Requesting Language Interpretation

Tenants have a right to understand and communicate during the eviction hearing in the language they are most comfortable in. To request language interpretation, tenants must file a Motion for Appointment of an Interpreter. If they cannot pay the cost of interpretation, they must file a Statement of Inability to Pay court costs. See the sections below for more details.

Motion for Appointment of an Interpreter

A tenant has the right to submit a Motion for a Spoken Language Interpreter, which is a professional interpreter that will help translate during the hearing. There is no guarantee that the motion will be granted. Use the button to access a form that guides you through filling out the motion.

Statement of Inability to Pay

Interpretation requests cost money, but if you are unable to pay you can still access interpretation by filing a Statement of Inability to pay. You can access a form that helps you fill out this statement using the button.
